International bauma Innovation Award
The organizers award the prize to research and development teams from companies and universities that are bringing practical leading technology for the construction, building materials, construction machinery and mining industry to market readiness while focusing on resources, the environment and people.
bauma – a driving force behind innovations
The international Innovation Award will be presented for the 14th time at bauma 2025. The competition is a joint project of bauma and these renowned associations:
- VDMA Construction – Equipment and Plant Engineering (VDMA)
- German Construction Industry Association (HDB)
- Central Association of the German Construction Industry (ZDB)
- German Building Materials Association (bbs)
Exhibitors at bauma 2025 and member companies of the construction associations HDB, ZDB and bbs could apply in the following five categories:
- Climate protection
- Digitization
- Machine technology
- Construction
- Research
The jury has now selected the 15 nominees for the bauma Innovation Award from the original 208 applications. All nominees will be presented on the evening before bauma, on 6 April 2025, at the ICM Munich and the five innovations with the highest number of points will receive the award. The presentation of the nominees and the five winners will take place in the bauma FORUM on 7 April at 11 a.m.
Looking back: International bauma Innovation Award 2022
After a multi-stage selection process, the following five lucky winners received their prize in 2022:
- Climate protection: Liebherr France SAS with its hydrogen-powered excavator
- Digitalisation: MiC 4.0 Machines in Construction with one common digital language for construction sites
- Mechanical engineering: Herrenknecht AG with its continuous advance
- Construction: Holcim (Germany) GmbH with CPC – Carbon Pre-stressed Concrete
- Research: TU Freiberg University of Mining and Technology Mechanical Engineering In-stitute with Deep Sea Sampling
The celebration of all 15 nominees and the announcement of the winners by Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian Deputy Minister President and Minister of Economics, took place on October 23, 2022, the evening before bauma, in the Max-Joseph-Saal of the Munich Residenz.
The prize winners in the individual categories were also presented on Monday, October 24, 2022, in the bauma FORUM.
