Our position.
Sustainable and innovative.
By conviction.

The exhibition center of Messe München with sustainability topics in several perspectives such as sustainable architecture, solar panels, e-mobility and networking.

Sustainability – our path to the future

Being part of our society, we, Messe München, are dedicated to our social and ecological responsibilities. Therefore, sustainability is an integral part of our corporate strategy.

For this purpose, we have developed a sustainability strategy tailored to the exhibition industry. As part of our holistic sustainability program, we continuously initiate projects, which aim to reduce the CO₂ emissions of Messe München.

Sustainability. The measures of bauma.

The construction machinery industry is on the way to a more sustainable future. As the world's leading trade fair, we want to set a good example. Whether mobility, catering, use of materials, waste avoidance, disposal or emission reduction - we are already taking concrete measures in these areas:

Trade fair organization

  • For our special areas and the bauma FORUM, we pay attention to use the most sustainable, resource-conserving stand construction possible through various measures by our stand builders. Further information can be found at meplan.
  • To save paper, we are constantly trying to reduce our print circulation and increase the use of digital formats, such as our bauma app and our website.
  • Regarding the selection of printing substrates, Messe München focuses mainly on sustainable and certified materials.

Waste disposal

  • In order to return recyclable materials to the economic cycle, we recycle the waste resulting from construction and dismantling as commercial waste. By revising its waste management strategy, Messe München also aims to ensure that even more of the waste generated is returned to material flows and recycled and disposed.

Gastronomy

  • A central maxim that guides the actions of our catering partners Able and Käfer is sustainability with the principle of “avoid instead of compensate”. By working with local suppliers and focusing on seasonal products as well as measures against food waste, they help to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainable business management.
You can find more information on the specific measures here.

Offers and recommendations for exhibitors and visitors

Sustainability is a mission that we can only achieve together. With various offers and recommendations, bauma supports all participants in making their participation in the trade fair more environmentally conscious.

Planning and design of the trade fair presence

  • Talk to your stand constructor about resource-saving stand construction options. Our partners meplan and EECS.greens® will be happy to provide you with appropriate stand construction solutions.
  • Use our waste prevention guide with valuable tips on how to avoid waste through careful planning and design of your trade fair presence.
  • Reduce the number of your giveaways and focus on sustainability in their production.
  • Use the GoGreen visitor vouchers to invite your customers to the trade fair and support high-quality climate protection projects with a financial contribution.
  • Catering: Reduce meat dishes and rely on regional and seasonal ingredients. Also talk to your caterer about how food waste can be reduced. You can find an overview of the caterers on the exhibition grounds and their sustainability measures here.
  • Check whether the number of printed advertising materials can be reduced and focus more on digitalization.

During the trade fair visit

  • “One trade fair visit avoids five business trips on average!” - according to a recently published study by the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA). You should therefore plan your trade fair visit as precisely as possible in advance in order to make the most efficient use of your time on site. The bauma app is available to you as a practical planning tool.
  • You do not need to bring a printed ticket with you! It is sufficient to scan the ticket on your cell phone at the entrance.

Mobility

  • Did you know that your bauma ticket includes free use of public transportation? We promote low-emission travel by integrating the use of public transport into exhibitor passes and visitor tickets (Print@Home tickets).
  • You can also use the bauma Rail Special event ticket for more environmentally friendly travel by rail.
  • To reduce the number of individual cab journeys, we offer an airport shuttle service during the trade fair that takes you directly from the airport to the exhibition grounds.
  • Networking on arrival - carpooling is not only more entertaining, but also reduces the volume of traffic.

PLUS TICKET – A Voluntary Contribution to Selected Climate Action Projects

Since 2022, visitors and exhibitors at bauma have had the opportunity to support selected climate action projects by purchasing a PLUS TICKET (formerly the GoGreen Ticket). The PLUS TICKET includes a voluntary financial contribution.

The additional revenue generated through PLUS TICKET sales is passed on in full to our external project partners, BayWa Foundation and myclimate.

Regional Project – BayWa Foundation

Half of the additional revenue generated through PLUS TICKET sales is allocated to the BayWa Foundation's regional climate action project, "O'pflanzt is!" The project's goal is to establish climate-resilient forests in Bavaria.

According to the BayWa Foundation, the additional revenue generated through PLUS TICKET sales at bauma 2025 made it possible to plant:

  • 5,311 red oak trees
  • across approximately 1.2 hectares

International Project – myclimate

The remaining half is provided to our project partner myclimate to help finance the construction of biogas plants in India.

According to myclimate, the additional revenue generated through PLUS TICKET sales at bauma 2025 achieved the following results:

  • 2,370 metric tons of CO₂ emissions reduced
  • 40 biogas plants installed

Thank You for Your Support

Every contribution makes a difference. Thank you for supporting the climate action projects of our partners, BayWa Foundation and myclimate, by purchasing a PLUS TICKET (formerly the GoGreen Ticket).
